Okay...thank you...cool...

i just watched the whole clip and liked the dialogue. more the woman than the guy.
loved the way it was shot and edited. the close up way it was shot on her face over his shoulder. she has a great smile.
especially the shots of the body when you couldn't see their faces during their conversation.
its nice work.
i like it.
this is great example of marin gazzinga's incredible subtlety as an actor. She can convey all the doubt, bravado and pointless honesty of a young woman looking for love in that unlikeliest of places, the neon-bright grimness of the neighborhood bar.
In front of a slurring-drunk, rude, sexist guy who can't manage a scintilla of charm even when he tries to, she carefully allots him a hundred extra chances to pull himself together in his seemingly doomed effort to walk her home.
He can see himself blowing it. She grants him the gallantry of his attempt, takes a leap and lets him escort her (though she's probably lying about how nearby she lives).
Every girl has been that weary Cinderella, not wanting to offend even a besotted jerk, for hope, against all evidence, that there's a prince inside that hapless frog.
The electric blue and green haunts their hesitant silhouettes, the lurking close-ups eerily bind them, so obvious, yet mysterious to each other, and to us.
Great work all around
Great work!
I was struck by how absolutely authentic this encounter was. It captured the desperation and the guarded hopefulness of the characters. It was very interesting visually, and sometimes strikingly beautiful.
i REALLY DUG IT. SUBTLE AND REAL.
Without a doubt, the best film. The most interesting. Here you have a story worth watching. The relationship between the two are great and dynamic. Hope they win
Pretty damn good.
Well acted, especially the initial awkward gaffe and drunken back-pedalling. I did not like the camera operator's equally drunken work, as half of Lucy's face was regularly occluded and the whole piece had a distracting bob and weave.
Lucy lost my favor in the second half, however, as the pacing slows way down and she goes from witty comebacks to "uh huh"s and "hmm"s.
I don't really buy the ending, either, as she seems too playful, confident and teasing for the first half to actually go home with him after his pathetic display.
However, I would actually like to see who these people are and where this relationship goes, which is more that I can say for the majority of the finalist films.
This was the best one in my opinion. Well acted and shot. Simple story, but the actors turned the simple story into a believable and watchable one. You left me satisfied with the ending, yet wanting more, which is the idea. As Robert Altman used to say, "I am more interested in behavior then story". This is true in the case here, we have very little story, but great capturing of behavior by these characters wanting more from the night, but guarding their emotions at the same time.
I think this is a great scene in a movie and I would watch the movie to see where this people end up but I dont really think this idea will translate well into an episodic concept on the internet... too much dialogue and not much happening, which i get why and it works within this one scene, but it could get really boring really fast for the web... and if they wanted to spice it up for the web, to get people to watch what happens next, it might actually go against the pace and style that they have already set up. Tricky... as much as I like I dont think it fits the format well, and viceversa.
perfect video snapshot of the advance-retreat steps to the mystery dance between a man and a woman (or any two people)
love the filming
and well acted too.
Lucy was flawless and I liked her better than 'foot-in-mouth' guy (although I can relate to the later). She conveyed a lot of feeling with her eyes. I also liked the subtle casual camera angles almost like you could have been walking by catching a part of their conversation. Hopefully this film will be the winner!!!
By far - the best of the five. Its desperate
reality. Painful silence. Written, shot
and beautifully acted. No contest -
'Like So Many Things' wins.
Awesome. The acting and dialogue are by far the strongest elements here, so we get an interesting flow of dialog keenly delivered.
I'm not personally a fan of shaky handheld as a substitute for style, but everything else worked for me. Well... I'm not sure where in this exchange Lucy decides to sleep with this guy, but with Marin's charm, how could the fellow say no?
Acting was a little stiff and middle school emotion it seemed. I think for what the subject was... it seemed a little drawn out too. I have to agree with the above poster, i don't see how this could turn into an interesting web series, maybe a Thelma and Louise 2 :)
She's great!
Beautifully shot and edited.
Great work.
nice genuine moments...this seems a little arty short film as opposed to a lead-in on a series but, as always..just my humble opinion
Spring seems such an appropriate time to enjoy this edgy rendition of the mating dance.
Excellent work!
the cinematography on this was great.
