5 Characters We Hope Fred Armisen Does on the SNL Season Finale

With Fred Armisen's triumphant return to SNL this weekend as host of the 41st season finale, we got to thinking what characters we hope he revisits. While there are no shortage of classic sketches he was a part of, here are a few of his all-stars that we're desperate to see one more time.

5. Garth and Kat

Garth and Kat

NBC

Season finales are notorious for their celebrity cameos, and with Fred hosting, we're sure a lot of his old costars will be swinging by 8H to join in on the fun. If that's the case, let's pray Kristen Wiig and Fred reunite for one more spin as Garth and Kat, the horribly unprepared singers who aren't as good at covering songs as they think they are.

4. Ian Rubbish

Whether it's on Portlandia, or his stint on SNL, Fred has always used comedy to celebrate and tweak music. Ian Rubbish, the Johnny Rotten-inspired London punk with deep affection for Margaret Thatcher, was always one of our favorites. The original sketch partially inspired Fred, Bill Hader, Seth Meyers and Rhys Thomas to create the IFC series Documentary Now!.

3. New York Governor David Paterson

David Paterson

NBC

Sure, former New York Governor David Paterson hasn't made the news in years, but that would just make a pop in by Fred's take on the politician that much funnier.

2. The Californians

Californians

NBC

If we were betting men, we'd let it all ride on "The Californians" showing up. A silly gag that allows for as many cameos as you can squeeze in, this sketch is sure to make an appearance on Saturday.

1. Fericito

Fericito

NBC

Armisen's first big breakout character on SNL, Fericito knew the only way to bring a bit home was with a rimshot and a catchphrase. How else would you know the joke was over? Fericito would be the perfect accompaniment to Colin Jost and Michael Che's Trump quips on "Weekend Update."
