Errol Morris' iconic 1988 documentary The Thin Blue Line explores the institutional corruption that continues to plague our country's justice system to this day. Renowned for pioneering the crime scene re-enactment -- a technique that's common in many documentaries and reality shows today -- the film exposed the flimsy-at-best and perjury-at-worst testimony from eyewitnesses as well as the shockingly blatant bias from authorities that led to a wrongful conviction. As a result from the film's release, an innocent man was exonerated from a capital sentence.

So with a situation as rife with comedy as that, it's impressive that Fred Armisen and Bill Hader were able to craft a hilarious take on The Thin Blue Line and the true crime genre with the Documentary Now! episode "The Eye Doesn't Lie." Armisen and Hader play extreme versions of the central figures in the story with Cedric Yarbrough and Breaking Bad's Dale Dickey making cameos as witnesses clearly influenced by the authorities.
